Reptiles
As well as my geckos I also have a green iguana called Fergus, an anerythristic corn snake called Yolanda , a red-eared slider called Gutz and a Horsefields tortoise called Boris.
Green Iguana
Green iguanas are one of the more popular pet lizards but it is unfortunate that many end up being sold or even dumped when the owner finds that the cute 12 inch lizard they bought some time back has suddenly grown into a 4 foot monster.
Iguanas are vegetarians eating leafy greens (not cabbage), fruit and vegetables but some may take mealworms and waxworms. Diet is of utmost importance and a good, healthy diet results in a good, healthy animal. A large enclosure is needed (at least 4 foot square for a 4 foot iguana) and heating and UV light are also required. Plenty of sturdy branches for climbing and basking should be provided and a humidity level of around 30-40% will aid in health and skin shedding.

Corn Snake
This is an anerythristic (lacking red colouration) female corn snake. Average full grown length is between 3 feet and 6 feet and most are quite tame if handled gently from an early age. Diet consists of small mammals (pinkies, fluffies etc.) and the cage needs to be dry and heated to around 78' F during the day with a 5-10' drop at night.

Red-Eared Slider
Also known as terrapins, this species suffered terribly during the "Ninja Turtle" fad when they were bought as 'toys' for children then dumped or released into the wild when older. They require a fairly large tank which should be half filled with water for swimming and a pile of rocks for basking. The water should be heated to above 77' F and diet should be fresh greens, cat food, tubifex, mealworms, waxworms and strips of fresh meat. UV light is not essential but can be advantageous.

Horsefields Tortoise
I have wanted a tortoise since I was a kid and I got this one (Boris) a few years ago. This species have recently been listed in the proposed C.I.T.E.S range due to massive imports and numerous deaths resulting from this. Full grown length (carapace) is around 8 -10 inches and diet is leafy greens, fruit and vegetables with some chopped mealworms. If kept outdoors the run should be situated where it will catch most of the days sun but shade must also be provided.
