Furry Critters
As well as my bunnies I have a black rat called KP, a hamster called Tom and 2 grey chinchillas called Chinny and Harriet.

Hamsters are usually a more popular pet than rats simply because people tend to be put off by the word 'rat'. Rats however (in my opinion) make far better small pets, they are cleaner, friendlier, tend to smell less and are more intelligent. Hamsters live for 2 -4 yrs, rats for 2-5yrs. A rat will need a larger cage than a hamster but will not tend to chew as much.
